Player Assessment

Player Assessment at Kings Town FC

At Kings Town FC, player assessment is about development, encouragement, and understanding each child’s journey — not labels or pressure.

Assessments help coaches:

  • Track progress over time

  • Tailor training to individual needs

  • Support confidence and motivation

  • Communicate clearly with players and parents

Every player develops at a different pace — and we respect that.

A Player-Centred Approach

Our assessment process is:

  • Age-appropriate

  • Ongoing (not one-off tests)

  • Based on observation in training and matches

  • Focused on strengths as well as areas for improvement

We do not rank players or publish scores.
Assessments are used purely to support development.

How Assessments Are Used

Assessment outcomes help us:

  • Plan training sessions

  • Set realistic development goals

  • Support players needing extra guidance

  • Challenge players who are ready to progress

  • Ensure fair and appropriate team placement

Assessments are never used as punishment or to create pressure.

Feedback & Communication

Feedback is:

  • Delivered positively and constructively

  • Age-appropriate and encouraging

  • Shared privately with players and parents when appropriate

  • Focused on improvement, not criticism

Parents are welcome to request a development discussion with their child’s coach.

Player Well-Being Comes First

We recognise that confidence and enjoyment are essential to development.

Coaches are trained to:

  • Avoid negative labelling

  • Encourage effort over outcomes

  • Support players through challenges

  • Watch for signs of stress or anxiety

If concerns arise, coaches will work closely with parents and the Club Welfare Officer.
